Photoshopped thinspo.

 http://www.freewebs.com/sugarfreegum/index.htm

The above are all examples of photoshopped 'thinspo'.  Those runway models you admire?  Half of them have been altered to appear thinner by nutjobs.  It's sick -- she's already dangerously thin anyway.

YOU CAN NOT LOOK LIKE THIS.  Your bones are NOT that tiny, you're have them sticking out all over the place, and you'd most likely be bedridden at such a low weight.  Wake the hell up -- none of this is real.

I can't even imagine why someone would feel the need to photoshop already underweight women to look even more underweight. I've gotten emails from friends and family full of photoshopped pictures like this, and when I try to explain how the images have been altered, no one believes me. This stuff is insane.

yeah i completely agree with you, they're already so thin and people find a need to photoshop them?! being that thin is probably very unattractive under all the clothes anyway. that's why i use real people as thinspiration instead of models and celebrities (:

it is pretty ridiculous that people have done this to these photos. they were already incredibly thin to begin with. you are right that it is sick.

thank you for sharing this. i never realized just how much photoshop can do, and these ads have been driving me crazy. especially with summer, when people walk around the streets in bathing suits and tiny shorts and i can't help but wonder.

Kudos to you for posting the real truth about how models really look and how society decides to distort them. Thank you for that reality check!

I thought I'd post after reading over this site. If you are trying to "educate" these wannarexics, you're going about it the wrong way, you come off as condescending and elitist. Most of the "real" anorexics online are fake. just because you mouth off and bash pro-ana girls doesn't mean you really have the illness, its funny they ("real" anorexics) usually think bashing them and saying how much they suffer makes them official. Just because you supposedly got diagnosed doesn't make you the fucking queen of anorexia. there are thousands of undiagnosed anorexics in America, you ahould really watch what you say because I'm damn sure you don't have a degree in psychology . And a couple of things I read on this site makes me think you're a bullshitter too, "currently torn between recovery and reverting back to my old habits (I had to gain weight recently for surgery)". WTF. Your fucked up your credibility with that simple sentence.

Taken from someone elses xanga:

I think it’s very sad that anorexia has become an elite club.
For some reason, you’re not a “real” anorexic if you refer to yourself as ana. For some reason, you’re not a “real” anorexic if you consider anorexia as your friend as well as your enemy. Anorexia can only be misery, not something you have accepted and learned to live with. It can’t be something that you don’t consider as bad. It can’t be a love/hate relationship.

Yes, as strange as it may sound, I actually love anorexia sometimes. I’m sorry if that offends some of the “real” anorexics.

The so-called “real” anorexics have decided the criterias you must pass to be considered as anorexic. It’s not enough to have a BMI under 17.5.. It’s not enough to starve yourself over a long period of time. It’s not enough that you’re underweight, but still think you’re fat. It’s not enough that your doctor or psychiatrist have diagnosed you with anorexia nervosa.

I have been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa by my doctor, psychiatrist and hospital. I have been hospitalized and tube fed. I’ve almost starved myself to death. But I guess I’m not a “real” anorexic because I don’t consider anorexia (ana) only as pain and misery.

Maybe you should stop playing “hobby psychiatrist.” There are obviously enough of those around.

Who the hell are you to lecture me about anorexia? I have lived with anorexia for many years. Anorexia is different for everyone. We’re not a homogeneous group. We’re different individuals.

I’m pro-ana. I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-recovery. Feel free to disagree with me, but don’t tell me I’m not anorexic.

Personally I think that the definition ana as well as anorexia is exactly the same. When I refer to ana, I refer to a person who exists in my mind. Ana tells me not to eat etc. It’s a part of my identity. I know ana is not real, but still, she is very present in my life.

It just gets a little bit boring to constantly hear about the suffering anorexic. Anorexia is painful, but to me, it’s so much more. Anorexia keeps me alive. Ironic, yes it certainly is. It may kill me, but at the same time it’s what keeps me alive. It prevents me from thinking of issues in my life that I can't deal with. Issues that make me very depressed.
It frustrates me when some people claim that anorexia is a certain way, and if you don’t feel like that, you’re not anorexic.
I'm getting sick and tired of the "anorexic elite club."

First off, I was supposed to gain a total of ten pounds for surgery, which took me months to accomplish, and I didn't even manage to meet that goal, and ended up getting the surgery under emergency conditions anyway, all the while still underweight. I wrote that description a year and a half ago, right after having the surgery, which was why I had so much time to update this site back then. It's not like I found out I needed surgery and magically recovered from the ED. At the time, I was struggling with wanting to recovery, but still dealing with the same impulses to restrict and lose weight.

Secondly, you're putting words in my mouth based on your perception of what you THINK I believe. I have never said half of the things you're on about in your post. Believe me, I understand the 'comfort' that one can experience when indulging in their illness, which people often mistake for love -- I've experience it myself, which is why I often refer to having an eating disorder as being like an abusive relationship. I dislike elitism as much as the next person. Thing is, you don't see me running around, harassing people and calling them fake. All I've ever done on this site is post the health effects of eating disorders, along with clarifying what someone with anorexia goes through to show people that it's not the glamorous super model "lifestyle" some people make it out to be. Again, quit jumping to conclusions.

How is telling the truth about the horrors that come with an eating disorder elitism? Like I said, you've pretty much lumped me into a group based on your own prejudices, projected opinions that I don't hold onto me, and created one huge straw man to vent your frustrations on. I find it ironic that you accuse me of pre-judging people based on limited evidence, when I've never singled anyone out on this site, nor have I ever gone on a wannarexia-witchhunt, yet you have the audacity to accuse me of lying based on one sentence. You're a fucking hypocrite... and a self-serving one, at that. You're like the pro-ana equivalent of a Michael Moore movie.

If you have a problem with "anorexic elite club", go find someone who actually subscribes to the crap you're bitching about, and tell them off. When you have a problem with people being honest about the health effects of anorexia and other eating disorders, you can come back here and start bitching. Capiche?

And I'm also more than aware that anorexia affects different people in different ways. I don't need YOU to lecture ME about that.
